The Iowa Insurance Institute Announces Brittany Lumley as Executive Director

Des Moines, Iowa (January 9, 2023) – The Iowa Insurance Institute (III) is excited to announce Brittany Lumley as its new executive director.

Lumley replaces Brenna Bird, who has led the organization since 2016. Bird was recently elected to serve Iowa as its attorney general.

“We would like to thank Brenna for her years of dedicated service leading the Iowa Insurance Institute,” said Aaron Pearce, president of III. “We look forward to working closely with Brittany to highlight the important role the property and casualty insurance industry plays in our state.”

For the past five years, Lumley has led government affairs efforts on behalf of III, including passage of bills protecting consumers from storm chasers through assignment of benefits and updating the state’s salvage title standards. Lumley graduated from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business and acquired her law degree from Drake Law School. She remains an attorney in good standing in both Missouri and Iowa.
