Summer Travel Safety

July 10, 2019

Each year, after schools close for the summer and warmer weather begins, thousands of people travel all over for summer vacations. While it might seem like just one more expense, summer travelers should consider adding travel insurance to their trips.

Thankfully, travel insurance can be tailored to your needs, as it is easy to qualify for, and you can decide how long you want your coverage to last. If traveling abroad, travel insurance may even provide some coverage for emergency medical treatment.

Travel insurance protects vacationers if there is a cancellation, flight delays, lost baggage, or emergency medical expenses. Different types of travel insurance coverage include:

  • Trip cancellation
  • Missed connection
  • Flight cancellation
  • Weather damage to your destination
  • Travel medical coverage
  • Delayed baggage or lost, stolen, or damaged property
  • Emergency assistance services

As with any insurance related matter every situation is unique, and it’s best to check with your insurance carrier to answer questions regarding your personal needs. With any trip or vacation, the hope is not to need traveler’s insurance, however it is always better to be prepared.

As many people plan for vacations with friends and family, make sure you are prepared and have everything covered. And as always, have a safe and fun summer!
